Biography
Derek participated in the Melbourne Datathon Competition in 2018, winning the Data2App with an application that focused on recommendations to strengthen the efficiency and efficacy of Victoria’s Transport system using Myki touch ons. His performance subsequently led him to a position in ANZ’s Institutional Analytics team, where he is now involved in the design and implementation of end-to-end pipelines underpinning a self-servicing data platform for institutional bankers and customers.
The Melbourne Datathon provides a realistic simulation of what it is like working as a data scientist, by forcing you to think holistically and collaborate widely to create value for your stakeholders.
